Give students something to hold: a handout to print, or a page for writing Chinese characters.
PDFs
Choose Add PDF.
Click Choose PDF file and pick the file. A picture of its first page shows on the lesson.
Check the Title. It starts as the file's name, and students see it.
Files can be up to 8 MB. For a larger one, open it, save it again with a smaller-file or web option, and choose the new copy.
Students open or download the PDF from the lesson. Only your family, and anyone you invite to the course, can reach it — there is no public link.
Writing worksheets
Choose Add writing worksheet. The list starts with this lesson's new characters, from its language practice.
Check each row: a character and its pinyin, one syllable with tone marks or numbers (nǐ or ni3). The meaning is optional.
Click Add a character for more, up to 40.
Save, then click Preview PDF to see the sheet in a new tab.
Characters another worksheet in the course already has are left out. They are listed above the rows, so you can add any of them back.
The printed page
Four characters fit on a page, so a lesson with more prints on more pages. A character with a long stroke strip can leave room for only three.
Each character gets a large model, tinted by its tone, with its pinyin, meaning and stroke count beneath it. Beside the model:
a strip that builds it up one stroke at a time
three light copies to trace over
two rows of practice squares to write in
Each student's copy carries their name. A preview leaves it blank. The date is left for the student to write on the day.
Every page's footer shows Toka Learning, your name as the author, and when the sheet was made. The paper, Letter or A4, follows whoever prints it.
