Every passage gets a set of practice drills on its own page. Start easy and work up — each drill hides a little more than the one before.
Open the drills
On the memory-work list, select Practise beside a passage. The drills sit under Practice.
One drill shows at a time, so the answer is never sitting elsewhere on screen.
The drills, easiest first
Read — the whole passage, to read through a few times.
Uncover — work down it one line at a time.
Trickle — the words come back one at a time.
Dial — slide to hide more or less of it.
Word Bank — put each missing word back in its place.
Signposts — every word cut down to its first letter. A one-character Chinese word is hidden completely.
Flashcard — recall it from the title alone.
Recite — type it from memory, then compare.
On a computer, click a flashcard and press Space to flip it. The left and right arrow keys move to the previous and next card.
A one-line passage skips Uncover, since one line leaves nothing to work down.
How hard is each drill?
Each drill carries a difficulty from one to four, so you can see at a glance where it sits. A good rhythm is to choose one that stretches a little, and step back when it gets frustrating.
Your last choice is remembered on this device.
What your children see
Children practice from their own view. Younger children get fewer, simpler drills with plain labels, while older ones see the full set.
Is anything recorded?
Nothing is scored or saved. What someone types in Recite stays on their screen and is never sent anywhere.
