Every chore repeats on a schedule. Setup suggests one, and you can change it before or after the chore is made.
Change a chore's schedule
During setup, select Change when under a chore at Choose chores. Use the suggestion puts the suggestion back.
Afterwards, select Edit on the chore list.
Saving a new schedule changes the chore from today on. Days already done stay as they were.
Chores for part of the year
Some chores only happen at certain times of year, like raking leaves or mowing. Under When, choose Only on certain dates and set the dates. Nothing is scheduled outside them.
Each set of dates has its own How often, so mowing can be weekly in summer and every other week in spring and fall.
Select Add dates for another set, like a week in January with one Saturday for the last leaves.
Dates can run on into the new year, like December to February. Two sets can't share a day.
To go back, choose All year.
Meals and eating out
Some chores follow meals, like washing up after breakfast, lunch and dinner. In Edit, untick a meal under Meals to drop it. A chore that follows meals keeps at least one.
A meal eaten out skips its washing up, putting away and cooking. Set those days during setup at Meals, under We eat out on, or later in your daily routine. To keep a chore on those days anyway, untick Skip it on meals we eat out.
