Set up your family's chores

Describe your home, pick the chores that fit it, and hand out a fair first share.

Chore setup asks a few questions about your home, then suggests chores that fit your household and who might do them. Nothing is created until you confirm.

Before you start

Add your children first — every chore needs someone to do it. If you haven't yet, setup offers Add a child.

Walk through the setup

Open Chores from the planner, then Set up chores. Move between steps with Next and Back.

  1. Your home — the kind of home, and what's in it: stairs, a yard, pets, a dishwasher.

  2. Bin collection — which bins go out, and on which days. Skip it if you don't have a collection.

  3. Meals — the meals you usually eat together, and when. Chore deadlines use these times.

  4. Choose chores — chores that suit your home come ticked. Untick any you don't want yet, or select Add your own.

  5. Who does what — a starting split of who does what. Change anyone under Assigned to.

  6. Select Confirm.

Why some chores are hidden

Chores that don't fit are left out, with a line saying how many and why — no garden, say, or no child old enough yet. As children grow, run setup again and more appear.

Big jobs like cleaning floors can be shared with Split into areas, so each room or area becomes its own chore.

Look after the chore list

The list groups chores by kind and shows who has each chore, and when it's next.

  • Edit changes a chore's name, time or points.

  • Remove takes it off the list.

  • A warning badge means the person is usually out when the chore falls. See who's home.
