Run the family store

Let children earn points for tasks and chores, spend them on rewards you choose, and keep track of pocket money you owe.

Points turn finished work into something your children can look forward to. You decide what everything is worth, and the Family store keeps the tally.

How points are earned

  • Tasks and chores earn whatever you set in their Points field.

  • New school tasks start at the default in Family settings.

  • Checked work counts once you approve it. Until then it shows as Waiting to be checked.

Stock the store

  1. Open Family store from the planner and select Add a reward.

  2. Choose a Kind: Screen time, Pocket money or Something else.

  3. Fill in What it is and What it costs, and pick Who it's for.

  4. Select Save.

Retire a reward you no longer offer with Retire. When a child asks for one, it waits in Waiting on you for you to grant.

Screen time and pocket money

  • Under Screen time, set how many minutes one point is worth. Log minutes used with Minutes used and Log it.

  • Under Pocket money, set what one point is worth in money, and the currency.

Toka only keeps the record. It doesn't control any device or move any money.

Settle up

Settle up lists what you owe each child from pocket-money rewards and paid extra jobs, item by item.

  1. Hand over the money.

  2. Select the settle-up button under the list, which shows the total.

  3. Read the check, then select Mark as paid.

When everything is paid, it reads All settled up. Settling covers everything listed, so pay it all before you mark it.

Check a balance

Choose a child's name near the bottom of the page to see their balance and history. A balance below zero shows as points owed, and the store waits until it's sorted.
