Mathematics

Natural Science & Anatomy
About nine weeks of library-based nature research papers, ten weeks preparing a science fair project, and eleven weeks of anatomy drawing — scheduled by the Challenge A Guide with no set textbook.
Project- and library-based rather than built around a required textbook; the Nature Sketch Journal and Lyrical Life Science Vol. 3 are recommended supports.
Reasoning Together
Students build habits of logical and creative thinking with CC's own Reasoning Together puzzle and analogy books, preparing for the formal logic of later Challenge levels.
Cartography
Students draw and label the world map from memory, building geographic knowledge that supports the year's history and current-events discussions.
Latin A
The first half of Henle First Year Latin, building vocabulary, forms, and translation skills week by week.
Newbery Literature & The Lost Tools of Writing
Students learn the five-paragraph essay through The Lost Tools of Writing while reading ten Newbery and classic novels across the year.
